It’s that time of year again, when all you hear is the consistent knock on your front-door! You go to your door wondering who might be at your home this early on a Saturday. As you open the door, you are immediately greeted by a cheerful little boyscout who tells you about all the great stuff he is selling this year. You know that you already are buying from your nephew, but you can’t say no to this smiling little boy, so you decide to buy a 24” Christmas wreath. After the transaction is made and he says thank you, you go back to reading your newspaper and drinking your coffee.

About 30 minutes later, you hear another knock at the door. ‘Not another one’ you think to yourself as you put down the paper and answer the door. And sure enough, there is an even smaller little boyscout in his nice uniform selling popcorn and wreaths. It’s the same thing all over again, you can’t resist, so you buy a caramel popcorn tin.

I have heard from many people that it can be frustrating having scouts come to your house time and time again, but I just love it! I don’t always buy from everyone, but when I do I know that the money is going mostly to the scouts. They need it more than I do. They use the money that they earn to go on camp outs and to get an experience that they normally would not receive. Anyway, if you have scouts come through your neighborhood anytime soon, be sure that you consider that the money is going to them.
